A new message from George’s family via official media channels

Hello Everybody, Lovelies, (and pets of Lovelies)!

We have come full circle again and Christmas time (and the holidays), are upon us once more.

I think we as a family, (there are lots of us, we Greek Cypriots, we’re everywhere)!! have come to fully appreciate (although we already knew really), quite how much love there is out there in the world, for both Yog and his beautiful music.

We know how much his lyrics can offer support when things are tough and help celebrate when times are good and life is going well… and that is just as powerful now as if he were still with us and as many of you say in your messages, it’s a gift.

It seems important that his generosity of spirit and natural empathy have touched you in a way that would have him embarrassed, all your kind words are really good to hear and we know you have always known his true heart.

Thank you for embracing and supporting the ‘Last Christmas’ movie and soundtrack, we knew you would enjoy it!! ‘This Is How’ is good, isn’t it?? We love that you love it, as would Yog.

Everyone has been working so hard to bring you his music, the movie is going to be there to celebrate and remember Yog and his music well into the future…and we thank everyone whose efforts brought his music to you.

We will be swerving the bad and enjoying the good as much as we can this coming year (2019 has been difficult and busy for George’s hardworking team).

We are, as usual, staying as positive as possible, which is what we and Yog would wish for you all, and we are all hoping for a peaceful 2020. (Wow 2020! – when you grew up with Yog, that used to seem so far away but, here we are folks – It’s the future)!!!

We’ll close by saying, don’t forget to say your ‘I Love You’s’ and enjoy your celebrations wherever you are. Thank you so much for your kind messages, they lift us when things are tough.

Keep on doing those good deeds in his memory, ‘paying it forward’ if you can.

‘Take Care’ he says from up there in the stars, with mum, Anselmo, and his beloved doggies.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and celebrations to you all – we send our best from here in London!

‘Last Christmas’ soundtrack to feature a new track from George called This Is How (We Want You To Get High)

The album from Legacy Recordings will feature such classic hits as the title track, “Everything She Wants,” “Faith,” “Fastlove Part1,” “Freedom! ’90” and “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go,” as well as the previously unreleased “This is How (We Want You To Get High).”

Director Paul Feig recently told BBC News that the new song came off of an album Michael was recording before his death in 2016.

“It’s a very celebratory song, I would dare say,” he said. “And we were able to play the entire song, which is almost six minutes long, in the film.”

The film began when the acclaimed British film producer David Livingstone spoke of his love of Wham!’s iconic hit, ‘Last Christmas’ to producer and screenwriter, Emma Thompson. That conversation sowed the germ of a winning idea: to make a film inspired by ‘Last Christmas’, so in Spring 2013, Emma Thompson visited George Michael at his London home who gave her his blessing.

“The wisdom and emotional scope of George’s lyrics have always amazed me. So many feel like they were written for the movie. After I met George and experienced his compassion and understanding up close, I realised that in fact the movie was written for those lyrics.”

– Emma Thompson

Last Christmas stars Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding.

Hi everyone, and lovely “lovelies” around the globe……

Looking out of the window here in rainy London, in our ever changing world, reminds us that it’s rare to be confident these days that anything stays constant…

However I am so happy to say, that the family, and the whole team, is so pleased to see how our request to do good deeds in Yogs’ name has continued to grow, and I often hear, and am particularly proud, of the huge amount of good works that you, his devoted fans have achieved, joining together, putting good out there into the world, helping others……whether large amounts of money raised, or small acts of kindness towards a stranger, all of it is positive, and makes us justly proud.

We are all missing him more than ever, but like to think of him, with mum , the love of his life Anselmo, and all of his lovely doggies, seeing all that great work done in his name, and the joy of you all sharing it with each other……whilst playing his music (of course) – and hopefully dancing and singing!!

All Positive & Amazing. (– dah da dah, dah da dah, dadadada dah….)

We were thrilled that this spring many of you got the chance to see and enjoy the stunning “George Michael Art Collection” (– the first ever official sanctioned event) whether in person or online.

Christies experts helped David and our team, create a warm and intelligent viewing, before the auction, and we are pleased you loved the limited chance to view his collection, and what we created, together.

The generosity of the collectors only adds to the good works that can now be continued into the future in his name.

The 2nd (– and only other officially sanctioned by us this year) Event, will be the “Last Christmas” Movie, out in November, a project Yog was involved with in its’ initial stages, along with the super talented team of Emma Thompson and Greg Wise.

We are excited for you to see it in all its’  ‘’Christmassy Wonderfulness’’

Meanwhile, enjoy the summer – (if and when it arrives in Britain!!)

Take Care,

Melanie, Yioda, Jack & David
